We initially asked our contributors to write about music thinking that, with the issue getting put together over the holidays, something straightforward was the best way to go. Music is certainly the most pervasive art form and is a major part of our lives. We were surprised—and happy—to see that they came back to us with a wide array of topics.
Would it surprise you at all to learn that Kanye West is self-absorbed, foolish, and incredibly talented? No, probably not. But that’s not to say it’s not enjoyable to take a look at just how inane the entertainer can be. Lina Misitzis did just that.
Meanwhile we have three pieces on the types of communities that music can form (or reform, even). Be sure to check out the video from Michael Chernak about the music scene in Binghamton, read about “El Movimiento” of Pop Pistol, and find out what Stewart Parker learned from Jess Pantoja.
Meanwhile, we have an amusing story from Shanda Boyett about the best concert she never saw and an interesting look on what it’s like to be a young woman married to a worship leader. Finally, Chris Balsiger speaks with Jonathan Katz of the controversial show Hide/Seek.
Thank you, as always, for your readership. Please don’t hesitate to email us with thoughts or criticism.
